The best of Mother Nature’s ingredients have been combined in this 100% natural face scrub. Powerful clarifying ingredients promote cell turnover and eliminate acne causing bacteria. Natural exfoliants such as cocoa, ginger and jojoba beads gently remove dead surface skin cells and unclog pores, whisking away excess sebum (oil) to reveal smooth and healthier skin. Ideal for oily or blemished skin, though gentle enough for most skin types.

Q: I wash my face everyday. Why do I need to use a face scrub?

With increasing age and exposure to the sun, the phenomena of keratinization accelerates. This means that dead skin cells accumulate in the upper layers of the skin and the rate of cell renewal diminishes. This causes skin texture to become irregular, a dulling of the complexion, and lines and wrinkles become accentuated.

In addition to sloughing of dead skin with natural exfoliating ingredients (cocoa shells, Jojoba beads) Sonya Dakar opted for an added biological method to help the skin restore its own exfoliation capacities: stimulate the activity of skin enzymes involved in the natural process of peeling.

By using purified oligosaccharides (simple sugars) derived from prickly pears, this Detox Micro Face Scrub boosts the natural peeling process by increasing the activity of enzymes that significantly increase the cell renewal process. The results are a clearer complexion that is more radiant with diminished lines and wrinkles.

Q: I’m aware that incorporating probiotics in my diet can aid in clearing my complexion. Can using probiotics topically help as well?

In 1964 Dr. R. H. Silver reported on his work in a paper titled, “Lactobacillus for the Control of Acne” which was published in the Journal of Medical Society of New Jersey. In this report, Dr. Silver states, the probiotics are “a safe, simple, 80% effective treatment for acne” when taken orally. However, physicians have successfully used probiotics topically in improving skin complexion. The active probiotic organisms (lactobacillus and bifidobacterium) found in our face scrub naturally produce lactic acid which helps diminish acne causing bacteria and smooth away skin imperfections. Unlike many facial products that “shock” the skin with an initial application of AHA (alfa hydroxy acids), a mild lactic acid is continuously produced by the active cultures, thus having a milder affect on the skin and avoiding irritation and flaking.

Be sure to moisturize your face after using the Face Scrub to hydrate and nourish the skin.
